Het is het grootste kasteel van Nederland. Het werd vanaf 1892 op de ruïne van het oude kasteel gebouwd in neogotische stijl.

Castle de Haar was first mentioned in 1391, destroyed in 1482, rebuilt in the 19th century by Baron van Zuylen with architect Pierre Cuypers.
