It's a good boot if it fits your foot right. Firm is good in a hiking boot. I'd expect that midsole to need about 20-30 miles to break in.

Take out the insoles. Stand on them shoulder width apart. That will show you if you need wider, longer, or both. There should be no excess space or overhang.
