Volendam or Marken which is better

Personally I like Marken better, the whole (small) village is very pretty with green wooden houses, and a cute little harbor.

Marken is an incredibly picturesque place (even more so than Volendam in my opinion) and the animals make it even better.

Marken is to my opinion worth a visit. Volendam is more a tourist trap, I wouldn't spend too much time there, nevertheless some like the place.

To visit Edam, Volendam, Marken en Volendam is a whole day. You have to enjoy these places and not rush through it (my personal opinion, you're on vacation).
